One Birmingham group, the Kings Heath and Brandwood Litter Pickers, have been taking part; they already meet every week to clean up the streets of their local area.
Brandwood Buzz asked Mazzy Snape and team to meet with some of the Litter Pickers one Sunday. She met Andrea, Ruth and Kim.
Mazzy asked them how they got started.
The members of the Kings Heath and Brandwood Litter Pickers adopt a street or park (or more than one) and volunteer regularly.
They meet on most Sundays at 10 am at York Road, High Street and in the Brandwood neighbourhoods they tackle litter on the first Sunday of the month, meeting outside Yarningale Road Shops at 10 am, targeting areas that have high levels of litter. The friendly group often meets for a tea or coffee after the litter pick to socialise and make further plans.
