So, although you may have heard of Brandwood, not many others know about our superb suburb in Kings Heath, Birmingham. The local community centres, green spaces, faith organisations, social enterprises and small businesses certainly have plenty to offer, and their ‘Boosting Brandwood’ network is working hard to raise awareness and bring together all the amazing stuff happening by setting up a dedicated website.
Brandwood Buzz aims to celebrate the people, places and activities in and around Brandwood, encouraging residents to visit the website and get involved.

Mazzy said,
“I’d heard of Brandwood, and knew it was roughly next to where I live, but never explored. Sometimes people’s routes in and out of areas don’t naturally take us there. I couldn’t believe how much goes on every week right on my doorstep, all the hidden gems, parks, reservoirs, dance, theatre and craft classes, gardening workshops, community action initiatives, litter picking, and so so much more. It’s really heart warming to hear the stories of all of the different members of the local community and how Brandwood Buzz and the connected organisations have positively impacted their lives.”
Suze Carter who set up and is leading the ‘Boosting Brandwood’ consortia told us,
“The Brandwood Buzz initiative grew from a realisation that we needed to boost our specific area. We are ‘Kings Heath’, but our neighbourhoods, mostly under-resourced housing estates that don’t fit in with the image of ‘affluent Kings Heath’, needed an opportunity to showcase what is on offer ‘on the doorstep’ to local people. Over 25 local voluntary groups, community organisations, schools and businesses are working together to create a ‘buzz’ around the Brandwood area.
